Genealogy Workshop with Orice Jenkins In-Person
Orice Jenkins is a recording artist, performer, educator, and genealogy researcher from East Hartford, Connecticut. He is the author of Chesta’s Children, a genealogy blog that explores his deep stateside roots as a descendant of enslaved Americans. Jenkins also contributed to Black Homesteaders of the South (2022) by Bernice Bennett, which brings to light the stories of rural Black homesteaders whose perseverance to attain the American Dream of land ownership have heretofore been untold. In this workshop, Jenkins will share how he unlocked clues that revealed the stories and connections within his family tree to help you begin your own genealogy exploration. Registration required. Bring your own laptop, or borrow one of ours.
